Most of the tasting rooms and wineries below are just a short walk from the beach.

Pismo Beach

If you’re looking for a classic beach town, look no further! Pismo Beach, named one of California’s best small towns by Travel and Leisure, is a summer must for vacationers on the Central Coast. With a vibrant downtown full of dozens of restaurants and eateries, you certainly won’t go hungry here! (We highly recommend the rooftop bar at Inn at the Pier for some incredible sunset views.) Nap on the sandy beach, take a walk down the Pismo Pier, or if you’re feeling adventurous, check out a surfing class or hit the waves with a paddleboard. There’s plenty to do, see, and tastes at Pismo Beach.

Just an eleven-minute walk away, or a four-minute drive from the Pismo Pier, is San Liege Wines Tasting Room in Pismo Beach. Enjoy the winery’s small production of sought-after wines without ever leaving Pismo.

2. Tastes of the Valleys Wine Bar

Experience a wine tasting room, wine bar, and wine shop all in one at Tastes of the Valleys Wine Bar! Like its neighbor, San Liege Wines, this tasting room is also just a walk or a short drive from the Pismo Pier. They offer well over 1,000 wines by the glass daily. You can try wines from Santa Barbara County, Napa Valley, Sonoma Valley, Edna Valley, and Paso Robles without ever leaving Pismo Beach.

3. Monarch Grove Winery

Enjoy high-quality wines from locally sourced fruit. If you like aromatic, fruit-forward, and low tannin fine wines, you’ll love Monarch Grove Winery! Located in Grover Beach, which lies right next to Pismo Beach, you can have your pick of one or both beaches while you’re in the area! (It’s only a short drive or walk from either one.) You can also explore the Monarch Butterfly Grove, which is just up the road from the winery.

Avila beach

Beloved by locals and visitors alike for its natural mineral hot springs, hiking trails, sunny and warm microclimate, and dog-friendly beach, you'll find plenty to do here. A favorite is biking on the Bob Jones Trail and then stopping at the Sycamore Mineral Springs Resort for a dip in their hillside hot springs before taking off to the beach. (If you haven't visited yet, we highly recommend exploring this beach town.)

1. Alapay Cellars Tasting Room

If you enjoy a high-quality, French-oak barrel-aged wine, then Alapay Cellars is the tasting room for you! Try everything from reds to whites and even dessert wines here. Most tasting flights here come with plenty to try! After a long day in the sun, nothing feels quite as good as relaxing in an ocean-themed tasting room surrounded by wine. 2. Sinor-LaVallee

Just one block away from the beach is Sino-LaVallee’s tasting room. Their estate wines are grown just 1.2 miles away from the Pacific, creating a flavor profile unlike anywhere else. There’s plenty of variety here as well; sip on everything from a Syrah to a Chardonnay.

3. Peloton Cellars

With award-winning wines and 90+ point wines, you’re in for a treat at Pelton Cellars. This Avila Winery serves up incredible wine all day, just a couple of hops away from the beach. With knowledgeable wine pourers, you’ll learn about the intricacies and history of their wines as you enjoy them.

Morro Bay

From miles of coastline, mouth-watering salt-water taffy, whale and otter watching, hiking trails, and kayaking and surfing, Morro Bay sets the scene for a different kind of beach experience here on the Central Coast.

Try world-class Cabernet Sauvignon and Bordeaux varietals at Chateau Margne. Here the wine's so good that their wines are often sold out the day they're released. It's also located right alongside the Embarcadero with a view of the ocean; it's a must-stop when you're in Morro Bay.

2. Absolution Cellars

Delight your palette with limited-production, 100% single-vineyard wines from the sunny Central Coast at Absolution Cellars. When you’re wine tasting here, not only do you get a stunning view of the ocean along the Embarcadero of Morro Bay, but you also get a one on one with the winemaker. You’ll learn about the story about the incredible wine inside your glass.

3. STAX Wine Bar and Bistro

If you’re looking for some incredible food to accompany your wine tasting, look no further than STAX Wine Bar and Bistro. Also situated along the Embarcadero, a quick walk to the Morro Bay beach, you’ll find that you have plenty to taste here. Lounge on leather couches as you indulge in local and international wines, nibble on gourmet cheeses.
